I went to bed last night as the Fog was rolling into the Nature Preserve, it was dark and gloomy, unable to see across the street as I lay there trying to fall asleep.
I woke up this morning to a gray winter wonderland, the fog having lifted, I looked at the temperature, I decided to bundle up and run out to the trails to see what wildlife was out and about this morning. All of the trees and bushes had a layer of frosty ice on them. It was gray and still kind of gloomy outside, everything looked almost black and white.
I drove to the nearby trail head, where I encountered another photographer coming back from the trails. He said that there were 3 cardinals out there today. I really wanted to capture a cardinal today, standing out against the gray day.
I did see one, but he was so jumpy, I couldn't get a picture of him.
I walked the trails, trudging through the thick snow. We have had more snow this year than any in my recent memory. I took some pictures, and was able to capture a small bird in flight. There was alot of animal tracks through the snow, where do all the creatures go during the day? I stood out there and walked around for a while. I finally looked to the sky, where I observed the MOON still visible at 830 am.
