I live in a nature preserve for those of you that don't know me. There are many many miles of trails carved through the wilderness and it's really fun to grab the bicycle or just go out for a nice long walk with the camera.
Today I went to one of the trails that I rarely go to, as I don't know that side of the preserve that well. I was really glad that I did. As soon as I got out of my truck, I noticed a colorfull bird flying around between the trees. I moved closer and noticed that it was a woodpecker.
It was really not scared or frightened of me which was really cool. I got pretty close to the bird as it was hopping between trees just living its life. I think he actually posed for me a few times :-). He would look at me, and then go back to what he was doing. I walked down the 3 mile trails and found a few interesting things to photograph.
One that really caught me was the human contamination of the wilderness. Ok so its a walking trail, and I should expect to see all kinds of things there, but the blue glove really caught my attention. It stuck out so much, that I had to take picture of it.
It was a good walk, got some nice pictures, and had a good time in the unseasonable weather that we are experiencing here in Minnesota. It was in the upper 50's and its NOVEMBER !!!! I love it. I do like winter, but it's definately nice to have the warm weather around for a little while longer before we plunge into the deep deep freeze of Minnestoa Winter.
